As if South Africa needs any more bad publicity the latest cover of TIME magazine has just been revealed and it’s not going down well with South Africans. It features Oscar Pistorius on the cover along with the words MAN. SUPERMAN. GUNMAN.

They also decided to rope in the entire country by adding ‘South Africa’s Culture of Violence’.

Time Magazine Oscar Pistorius

Seen folks calling it sensationalist and what not, but is it really?

Why is it so surprising that people around the world think of SA as a violent country? Murder, rape and abuse is practically guaranteed in SA news on a daily basis.

People freaking out like the US has no right to label South Africa like that.  Wake up…we live in a country with violent crime and they are calling attention to that fact. And why the hell are people blaming Oscar Pistorius for making us look bad? Im confused…is he responsible for all the other crimes that happen in this country?

Take a good look at yourself SA…the reason the world thinks we have a problem with violent crime is because we do have a problem with violent crime.

Yes, there’s loads wrong with South Africa… Until the death penalty comes back and we don’t fill our prisons with kak … it will never change.

Regarding the insensitive cover photo for their magazine – they need something to sell their magazine…

I wouldn’t buy it and now I still wouldn’t buy it.

Yoh, they aren’t sugarcoating it are they.

Im inclined to agree that getting ruffled feathers over it is pointless though.

South Africa IS violent and dangerous, its not just this one isolated incident that proves that.

Really striking cover. But they’ve always been good at getting covers that gets noticed.
