Inappropriate OUTsurance ad below Oscar Pistorius headline in The Star? [pic]
Posted by on Feb 20th, 2013

Mmmmmm…in my previous post i gave side eyes at the BBC for playing a song about shooting your old lady immediately after a news bulletin about Oscar Pistorius and even if they apologised i can’t help but feel there was some intention involved hey. Same goes for this OUTsurance ad on the front page of The Star yesterday. Right below the headine about double amputee Oscar Pistorius is a disability cover ad showing the lower half of a man with the text ‘Do you have the right insurance cover should your life suddenly change?‘ in the place of his left leg.

Apparently the ad had been booked in advance and it was unintentional and an unfortunate co-incidence that it was placed on the front page.

What do you reckon?

I think that regardless of where the ad appeared, it is done in bad taste. There are better, more creative, impactful ways of getting a message out there.
Also, I don’t believe that it was a coincidence, some brands and people will do just about anything to capatilise on a bad situation.

It looks too coincidental for it to be accidental… it’s bullshit disrespect …
I will stay away from both outsurance and reading the star !
