• Woman attacked and killed in Bo-Kaap on her way to RHCP concert

Lots of positive reports from the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Cape Town last night except for the tragic story of a woman (related to a well-known SA rock musician) who was attacked and died on her way to the show. The 47 year old woman and her daughter took a short cut through the Bo-Kaap when a suspect tried to grab her handbag and she fell down a quarry.

    Sad.

    Makes me so angry this.

“A Red Hot Chili Peppers fan was killed in Cape Town’s CBD on Tuesday night after apparently being attacked while on her way to the concert.” [News 24]

Wasn’t gonna write this post because it’s rather bleak, but I’m sick and tired of stories from people telling me their house was broken into or they were mugged in or near the CBD.

Do something city of Cape Town. How can we claim to live in the most beautiful city in the world and yet fear walking to a concert.

    This is unacceptable.

One wonders why they were in such a dodgy area, the quarry in Bo-Kaap is where the squatters live.

Everytime i drive past the quarry and see the slum situation I think someone is going to be brutually raped or murdered & it just happened!!!! Why do the City of Cape Town kick them out! They continually come back – get rid of them squatting there for once and for all. How hard can it be???
