The Akamai Technologies State of the Internet report was released last night and if you’re wondering how internet speed in South Africa compares to the rest of the world then you’d be happy to know your slow ass interwebs is because we are ranked 72nd worldwide when it comes to average connection speed and 124th in average peak connection speed.
South Korea once again topped the ranking with an average internet speed of 14.7 Mbps while the SA average speed was measured at 2.1 Mbps. Sigh.
Notably the fastest average peak connection speed belonged to Hong Kong which was clocked at a ridiculous 54.1 Mbps. That is insane. You could download a whole movie in minutes at that speed.
