SA youth development agency spent nearly R1 million…on berets [wtf]
Posted by on Oct 23rd, 2012

The South African National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) spent R969,000 of taxpayer’s money on berets for it’s June 16 celebrations. They were given a budget of R2.8 million and spent just under one million on berets. Berets?????

I don’t know about you, but that just sounds ridiculous.

I’d love to know how many berets they got for nearly a million Rand?

“The agency further covered costs for T-shirts for R490000, berets to the value of R969000, artists for R262000, R294000 for stadium branding and lanyards for R17000,” said Chabane.

In addition to the funds provided by The Presidency, Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet approved more than R2-million from provincial coffers for the event.” [TimesLIVE]
