Woolworths shuts down it’s Facebook wall citing ‘hate speech’ [pic]
Posted by on Sep 7th, 2012

Ya hey…this whole Woolworths racist employment claims thing is starting to grind my tits. I didn’t get into a whole debate in my first post HERE and i’m not gonna get into one now. Bottom-line…a whole lot of people are getting their prawn cocktail panties in a bunch because they think that Woolworths are not hiring any white staff at all throughout the entire company. Tannie number 1 tells tannie number 2 that Woolies is disgusting and practicing reverse racism so tannie number 2 jumps on the bandwagon without questioning and before you know it everyone in Orania is on a crusade to boycott Woolworths oblivious to the fact that a few decades ago it was law to deny black people jobs and in a bid to correct the imbalance this caused, Woolies (along with many other big companies in SA) instituted a policy, in accordance with the Employment Equity Act, to designate SOME positions where there is under-representation to EE groups….and these groups include women and disabled people, not just non-whites.

You see…now they got me ranting again and i didn’t wanna get into that. As the headline says i merely wanted to tell you that Woolworths has shut down it’s Facebook wall to the public because it’s being flooded with comments that they are calling a ‘campaign of hate speech’.

Right, now can we please move along.

It’s Friday ffs.

Folks need to either calm their sh*t or if you really are serious about boycotting Woolies then don’t just stop there…go boycott every other company in SA that is trying to fill under-represented vacant posts. Good luck with that. Or better yet…go boycott ALL the companies that supported the Apartheid regime for decades.

Actually, scratch that last’s way too complicated. Instead, just open a newspaper or go read a few things so that next time tannie 1 tells you something you actually have your own opinion instead of blindly taking what she says as gospel.

I like your blog and don’t really want to bring politics onto it, but it has been the role of the “whites’ for far too long to bend a knee and apologise!
Apartheid lead to a moer of an uprising by a supressed ethnic group, BEE will lead to the same thing. Racial discrimination cannot be corrected with more racial discrimination! Doesn’t matter who is on the short end of the stick!
How can we be democratic if we have legislative requirements that discriminate against the minority ethnic groups?

Here is something for us all to consider…

If you are white and want to study to become a medical doctor, you need to be in the top 10% of academic achievers in order to be considered. In many cases you would still have to complete a BSc degree as well, and iin many more cases you still won’t make the cut. Pretty brutal, but only the brightest should be Doctors right…?

If you are black and want to study to become a medical doctor, you need an academic average of 65% in Grade 12 to be considered.

Now also please take into account that these kids often go to the same schools, they all have to go through the same curriculum.

Like I said, just some food for thought.

On a more related note…

Woolworths are just following the letter of the law, and its not right for people to get their panties all up in a bunch about it

I want to know how woolworths facebook fan-page has 200 000 LIKES / FANS but on their twitter profile – they only have 40 000 …

Hasn’t everyone moved yet from facebook to twitter? Twitter’s more exciting …
the use of the #woolworths brings up the topic of debate circulating’s convenient….

Anyhow they’re getting loads of interactions in that fan-page from 300 shares to over 2000 comments on a single day…

Everyone claims they’re going to boycott woolworths blah blah blah, but surely they should start off by blocking all ties to woolworths (ie. leave the facebook fan-page, block them on twitter, and stop shopping at woolworths)…

I doubt that people will stop shopping there…I assume that they will merely tell their friends they’ve gone to Pick ‘n Pay, but they actually sending their domestics Mavis to go shop for them at Woolworths…

Keep this in mind the next time you are about to repeat a rumour or spread gossip. In ancient Greece (469 – 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day an acquaintance ran up to him excitedly and said, “Socrates, do you know what I just heard about Diogenes?”

“Wait a moment,” Socrates replied, “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”
‘Triple filter?” asked the acquaintance.

“That’s right,” Socrates continued, “Before you talk to me about Diogenes let’s take a moment to filter what you’re going to say… The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “Actually I just heard about it.”

“All right,” said Socrates, “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about Diogenes something good?”

“No, on the contrary…”

“So,” Socrates continued, “You want to tell me something about Diogenes that may be bad, even though you’re not certain it’s true?”

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued, “You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about Diogenes going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really.”
“Well,” concluded Socrates, “If what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even useful, why tell it to me or anyone at all?”

The man was bewildered and ashamed. This is an example of why Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

It also explains why Socrates never found out that Diogenes was shagging his wife.

Well said! Have people been asleep for the last 18 years? BEE has been around for yonks and Woolworths is NOT the first and only company to have job adverts for non-whites!

I will boycott Woolworths just to show solidarity with something which is wrong, I do all our shopping at Woolworths. People say why Woolworths, because they stuck their head above the trenches and you get a bullet between the eyes, It seems they have the most to lose of any retailer as most of their customers are white, and its my money I will spend it how I like.
I also see the communist youth league has come out in support of Woolworths, so they can also buy from them, my leaving will not hurt WW. WW you dont need us so carry on regardless.
