Best Of Cape Town 2012 – Best Curry [top 10]
Posted by on Aug 22nd, 2012

So the Best Of Cape Town 2012 makes a return after a temporary break and if you still don’t know what it is all about then go find out coz i’m tired of explaining. Basically its a list of the best Cape Town has to offer compiled by locals who vote via socia media…ie a crowd sourced top 10 by the people who live in the city. Not experts or foreigners…just regular folks who live here.

I’ve previously done top 10 lists for the best burger, best sushi, best coffee etc. and last Friday i asked you fine people to give me suggestions for the place in Cape Town that made the best curry. I didn’t specify whether it was Indian or Thai curry because quite frankly that means i have to do two seperate polls. As was the case with the previous polls..there were definite favourites, but also a wide variety of places i had no idea even existed.

So let’s get to it then…here’s the results for Best Curry in Cape Town.

  1. Bukhara – 33 Church Street, 021 424 000
  2. Eastern Food Bazaar – 96 LongMarket Steet, 021 461 2458
  3. Bihari –  Southern Sun Hotel, Main Road, Newlands, 021 674 7186
  4. Chandani – 85 Roodebloem avenue,  Woodstock, 21 447 7887
  5. Kitima – 140 Main Road, Hout Bay, 021 790 8004

Well done to Bukhara which only narrowly beat out the Eastern Food Bazaar. Interesting results in the number 3 and 4 spots. Never been to either of thos, but will definitely give them a shot now.

Other restaurants mentioned, that didnt make the top 10 include, Simply Asia, Indochine, Feast, Bombay Chilli, Khairuns Kitchen, Annapurna and Vintage India.

If you have any more suggestions then feel free to leave a comment hey.

Eastern food bazaar is a great experience; not just for cheap food but also for mixing with the local people, but is far from best of any cuisine. Good Indian curries can be found at Bhandaris, Tokai and Fish Hoek as well as Bombay Chili in Muizenberg.
