Ok so over the last couple of days there has been lots of social media chatter about a new app called Status People Fake Follower Check which apparently allows Twitter users to see how many of their followers are fake, inactive or good. It also allows users to check other Twitter accounts and this has caused some drama in the South African Twitter community. For one it raises some very interesting questions when determining the reach of a user and how influential they really are.
Here’s my results.
And here’s the results of notorious SA Twitter user Nonhle Thema who has 135 000 followers.
And this of well known SA singer Steve Hofmeyr. Shame.
Mmmmm…few fake followers, but I definitely need to work on my inactive followers. You lot should stop watching and get involved dammit. As for my fake followers..well i’ll just put that down to those sexbots who automatically come knocking whenever i mention the word vagina. Which is rather often. Seen some people say that fake followers are the same as bought followers, but that isn’t always the case.
I checked a whole bunch of people including well known media celebrities to SA politicians and i was initially gonna post their results, but decided against it. The results for some of them are well…interesting to say the least.
Will it effect how you view someone from now on? Or does it make no difference to your opinion of the person you are following? And will advertisers or brands take this into account?
