Guy tweets complaint to SANRAL…they respond by telling him he should be ashamed of his haircut [pic]
Posted by on Jul 16th, 2012

Slightly amusing yet rather disturbing Twitter exchange between an angry member of the public and the South African National Roads Agency  Limited’s (SANRAL) account. From past tweets and the bio, it appears that the @realSANRAL account is genuine and belongs to the company of which the SA government is the sole shareholder.

Andrew Elia sent the account a message saying that SANRAL should be ashamed of themselves because Atlas Road and the N12 is a mess and that nobody was fixing it.

SANRAL’s response…he should be ashamed of his haircut.

Yoh!, not exactly the response one is looking for from a government company that is represented by the Minister of Transport now is it.

But then again this is the SA government we’re talking about so is it surprising?

What do you make of this and what should be done?

Assuming this is indeed the official account of SANRAL.

UPDATE: @realSANRAL have just deleted the tweet that says Andrew Elia should be ashamed of his haircut. Too late chaps…it’s right there in the screenshot.

To be fair though, that haircut is a bit shameful, which by pure logic means that those two roads are too!

I have been asking the DA questions via Twitter about the viability study regarding the proposed second casino in Cape Town and even though they’ve said that they embrace social media as a means of reaching people, I was accused of seeking attention for myself, of trolling the internet and having vested interests. But at least they didn’t mention my haircut!

Well, it makes me think that whoever runs the @realSANRAL account might also be running a spoof/parody account, and got mixed up with the replies…

What a bunch of cocks!

Too bad for them you actually took a pic instead of embedding the tweet. Because then the evidence would be lost forever.
I find this shocking. Does whoever is manning the account know nothing of professionalism? Wait, what am I saying. Like you said, this is South Africa. Our government clearly knows little to nothing of professional behaviour entails. And how can we expect the rest of the country to do any better? Citizens will live up to the example set by those in office.
And because denial runs rampant in our country, I don’t suppose we can expect an apology for such poor conduct. And all that the conduct entails.

That is a very funny comeback though!!

Mystified why a reply about roads is answered by questioning someone’s haircut…it’s not like the hair was in the other person’s eyes that caused an accident…

It can’t be a parody account if they deleted the tweet or tried to delete it.

Alas everyone is online at the time…someone would have screen-captured it…

From today’s tweets, it seems that either someone is having a meltdown at Sanral or it’s actually a parody account…weird
