Brand ambassador fail: Soccer star brings Pepsi to press conference…loses R6 million Coca Cola sponsorship [pic]

Here’s a lesson to all brand ambassadors..if Coca-Cola is paying you R6 million to endorse their product it’s not ideal to rock up at a press conference sipping on a Pepsi.

Case in point: Ronaldinho, who was snapped at a press conference today with a Pepsi. This obviously didn’t go down to well with the folks at Coke who ended their deal immediately and told him to tsek.

That’s an expensive can of Pepsi.

“Ronaldinho stunned Coke chiefs by turning up at a press conference and sipping nonchalantly from a can of their arch-rivals’ fizzy pop. Furious bosses at the Atlanta-based firm immediately demanded that the plug be pulled on his huge endorsement deal, according to a report in the ‘O Estado de Sao Paulo’ newspaper.” [Yahoo]

Dumbass of the day award goes to Ronaldhino.

If I were pepsi I would spin this story so hard. I would run a campaign stating that ronaldinho just actually “paid” the 6million dollars to rather drink pepsi, cause it just tastes so much better.

Happens all the time with Coke and Pepsi endorsements. He’s not the first. Won’t be the last.
