I didn’t post a story, but last week a Cape Town real estate developer, Stephen Birch, claimed he discovered the grave of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann and now he has posted a video on Youtube explaining his private investigation as well as including footage of his ‘covert operation’ where he staked out the house of one of the main suspects and then used an underground scanner to locate her possible remains under a concrete driveway.
Birch has stated that has spent half a million Rand of his money investigating the dissappearance of Maddie and it’s taken him 15 months to finally locate her remains and in his own words the scan is ‘overwhelming proof that an object lays buried beneath the Murat driveway and neccessitates that the Portugese police excavate the driveway immediately’.
Here’s the video.
The owner of the house is now apparently laying charges against Birch for trespassing.
I’m not quite sure what to make of Mr Birch hey…bizarre to see a South Africa involved in the disappearance of Maddie case and especially that he’s from Cape Town.
“It took four days using time-lapse cameras to determine the movement of the people and secondly to determine the pattern of where the dogs went. On some evenings the big dogs were in the front and small dogs were in the house. We had to get our timing right. It was a covert operation,” said Birch.
After filming the find and posting the video on internet website YouTube, Birch said he had been told that the suspect was consulting lawyers about the validity of the clip and whether he could prefer criminal charges.” [TimesLive]
What do you think? I’m not clued up on the legalities, but would this be enough for police to go and excavate that dude’s driveway?
