Best of Cape Town 2012- Who makes the best burger? [poll]
Posted by on Apr 11th, 2012

Ok so it’s time for another Best Of Cape Town 2012 poll and if you didn’t catch the first crowd sourced survey i did to find the Best Sushi in the city then click HERE. Nearly 100 suggestions were recieved via Twitter and 22 via the comment section beneath the post. It may not be the most comprehensive survey out there, but it was made by the people of Cape Town and as i said before…locals know best.

In a nutshell…i have asked two legends in @concierge_ryan (if you want it, can dream it or afford it, he can get it for you) and @Jodenecoza (founder of #followSA) to help me establish a crowd sourced list of the best Cape Town has to offer. Basically a go-to list for anyone wanting to know where in Cape Town they can find the best of anything.

And this week is another hotly debated topic and i’m expecting just as much variation as i got from the sushi poll. So without further messing about…

Where in Cape Town would you go for the best burger?

And as with the sushi poll, feel free to take price, ambience, location, size and clientele into consideration when you leave your comment beneath this post. It won’t figure into the results, but it will help others reading this post more options. If you’re gonna leave a suggestion on Twitter then please use the hashtags #BestofCapeTown2012 and #BestBurger along with your suggestion so i can track the results.

Remember the whole point of crowd sourcing is to give everyone the opportunity to see what else is out there. We all have our favourites, but it’s nice to know that there may be places we havn’t tried yet. The results of the sushi poll HERE for example were significant in that out of the Top 10 places in Cape Town i had only been to 3 of them, but thanks to you fine folks i know have 7 new ones to try.

I’ll post the results in a Top 10 list on Friday.

So let’s hear it.

THE DOG’S BOLLOCKS! 6 Roodehek Street (off Buitenkant Street).

Only serves a limited amount of burgers. If you’re late you’ll miss the best burger in CT.

This one is close to my heart. And I must say, Da Vinci’s on Kloof (Paris Ostrich Burger) still comes out king. Saints on Kloof isn’t too bad. Clarkes Diner isnt terrible either. But Da Vinci’s has it down to perfection.

I have to go with Royale on Long Street, but Hudson’s does come in quite high on the list too. Spoilt for choice!

Undoubtedly the best in the Cape is the Steenburger at Bistro1682 at Steenberg. After that, I have to say Saints on Kloof. If we’re moving out of the city, then Long Table restaurant at Dombeya wine estate in Stellies is definitely top 3.

Has to be Royale on Long Street – lots of variety, choice of potato or sweet potato fries or both. Great ambience and service
