So yesterday I was driving along the Atlantic Seaboard at around 5pm and noticed that the cloud formations might make for a decent sunset…couple of hours later and it turns out my prediction was pretty solid. Cape Town didn’t disappoint and delivered an epic sunset and I managed to snap a couple of pics with my Blackberry along with every other instagram hippie in the city.
Thing is, a smart phone doesn’t quite do the sunset justice hey. You can’t capture that feeling of grandure you get seeing it in real life. So I took several pics in the hope that I could digitally stitch them together and create a panoramic . Needless to say I’m kak at that and my attempt was nice but nothing to write home. I then got an offer from one Tinus le Roux at gigapixelfancam.com to send me the pics.
I emailed him with a message saying good luck trying to sort out that mess and I swear not even 5 min later he sent me this.
Do yourself a favour and click on this to enlarge it.
Now that my friends is how we do sunsets in Cape Town.
Thoroughly impressed with the work by Tinus and get this…he’s colourblind as well. Yep…my mind was blown too.
I went to check some of the other work Gigapixelfancam (remember them, they were the guys who made the highest definition pic of Cape Town ever HERE ) has been up to and was pleasantly surprised to see that they created a 360 degree gigapixel image of the recent Hong Kong Sevens tournament . You can literally zoom into the face of anyone in the stadium.
Awesome chaps..keep up the great work.
