The coward captain of the capsized Costa Concordia cruise liner made headlines a couple of days ago after audio was released between himself and the coast guard in which he refused to go back to his sinking ship and at a hearing on Tuesday he gave a perfectly solid reason as to why he abandoned the vessel….he says he ‘tripped and fell’ into a lifeboat and should be credited wth saving thousands of lives.
Seriously..that’s what he said.
11 people died, 22 are still missing and Capt. Francesco Schettino is facing manslaughter charges and 12 years in prison for abandoning ship, yet he thought it was a bright idea to tell everyone he ‘tripped and fell” into a lifeboat.
Wow.

Italian newspaper La Republica reported Francesco Schettino – vilified for leaving the ship without concern for his passengers and crew – told investigators he had not planned on leaving the ship as it began to pitch sideways after striking rocks just 150m from Giglio island on the Tuscany coast.“
