Qantas airline social media fail with hashtag PR disaster

Nice little lesson here to companies and brands out there thinking about running a social media competition on Twitter and how to avoid a PR disaster.

Australian airline, Qantas decided it was a great idea to run a contest earlier on Twitter by asking users to tweet the hashtag #QantasLuxury and their idea of a dream inflight experience. The amazing prize to the best answer…..a pair of Qantas first class pyjamas. Needless to say that Twitter is now having a field day and instead of people tweeting their dream experience they are instead using it to complain about the kak service.
