Remember that scene in Star Wars when R2-D2 projects a hologram of Princess Leia and she says “help me Obi Wan Kenobi”…..well this is nothing like that scene. We’re getting there though.Slowly.
An airport in Paris has installed holographic staff members to help passengers board.
Ok, so they don’t actually help at all and are just pre-recorded messages projected onto plexi-glass shaped like a person, but hey it one step closer.
“The pilot project at Paris’ Orly airport began last month, and has so far been met with a mix of amusement and surprise by travellers, who frequently try to touch and speak with the strikingly life-like video images that greet them and direct them to their boarding gate.
The images materialise seemingly out of thin air when a boarding agent – a real live human – presses a button to signal the start of boarding. ” [stuff]
