It’s about damn time internet costs went down in South Africa and Telkom Powered 8.ta announced today that they will be offering 10GB data bundles for just R199 per month. That and the option for a further 10GB late night surfer package for an additional R100.
The deal is apparently available on a 24 month contract and you’ll effectively be paying less than 2 cents per megabyte.
“8.ta, South Africa’s fourth and newest mobile network operator, is going to market with a low cost mobile broadband promotion for South Africans Internet users. While these are the lowest mobile broadband rates on the market, they don’t include the modem. However, users will be able to use the 8.ta SIM cards in any other network’s modems.
The new post-paid Internet 5 Promotion offers subscribers a 10GB data bundle at R199 per month with the option of an additional 10GB Midnight Surfer data bundle at R100 per month for use between 12am and 5am. Subscribers in essence, will be getting 20GB’s of data at R299 and will therefore be paying as little as 1.5 cents per MB – the lowest mobile broadband rate available in South Africa, says Amith Maharaj, Managing Executive of Telkom Mobile.” [Gadget]
That’s a pretty decent offer especially considering that Vodacom is offering 2GB at R149 per month while Cell C has a 5GB package without the modem that works out to R167 per month.
The 8.ta deal will be available from this Sunday the 26th June in stores or online HERE.
Nicely done 8.ta ……..now lets wait and see what the performance is like and how many complaints you get about coverage and dropped connections.
