WHO classify cellphones as ‘possibly carcinogenic to humans’
Posted by on Jun 1st, 2011

Remember that rumour that cellphones can fry your brain and what not…well 31 scientists at the World Health Organisation had a week long meeting and have decided that mobile phones could increase the risk of cancer.

Ok so that video of 3 cellphones ringing at the same time causing popcorn to pop has nothing to do with the findings, but its cool no?’s the serious stuff.

“Scientists have classified handsets as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” – and advised people to use hands-free devices or text instead of calling.

The classification came after the WHO working group concluded radiofrequency electromagnetic fields associated with handsets potentially heightened the chances of suffering glioma, a malignant form of the disease.

The WHO had previously said there was no established evidence for a link between cell phone use and cancer.

A week-long meeting of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) group featured 31 scientists from 14 countries in Lyon, France.” [Sky News]

Ya hey…its not so far fetched that 20 years from now somebody is gonna prove outright that cellphones really mess your sh*t up. Look what happened with cigarettes.
