President Obama to Israel: “dream of a Jewish and democratic state cannot be fulfilled with permanent occupation”

While we wait for the outcome of the municipal elections in South Africa i may as well stick with politics and tell you that US President Barack Obama has delivered a Middle East Speech in which he called for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by the creation of a Palestinian state based on  1967 borders.

He went to say: “The dream of a Jewish and democratic state cannot be fulfilled with permanent occupation.”

I’m no political analyst, but i’m guessing Israel is not gonna be too stoked about this.

“WASHINGTON — Forcefully stepping into an explosive Middle East debate, President Barack Obama on Thursday endorsed a key Palestinian demand for the borders of its future state and prodded Israel to accept that it can never have a truly peaceful nation based on “permanent occupation.”

Obama’s urging that a Palestinian state be based on 1967 borders — before the Six Day War in which Israel occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza — was a significant shift in the U.S. approach and seemed certain to anger Israel.”[NYPost]

Soooooooooooooo…did the DA win in Jo’burg yet?

I heard that Helen Zille would run down Camps Bay in full Ed Hardy gear if that happens.

Stick to politics you know please. Posting articles like this just inflames a debate that is so complex and complicated, that you can’t comprehend the situation until you have lived both sides…

You are absolutely correct..don’t know what came over me. Saw the headline moments after it appeared on Huffpo and it seemed like a story worth telling. I should know better and avoid these topics in the first place. Point noted.
