The Cape Town Carnival 2010..
Posted by on Mar 9th, 2010

Did you know Cape Town is gonna have its own Carnival, like the one in Rio?

Neither did I. Must be out the loop because this is the first time i’m hearing about this and its starting on the 18th March.

The Cape Town Carnival “aims at bringing together the diverse communities of the city through the universal language of music, dance, cultural and creative expression.”

It begins on the Thursday the 18th March with a fashion show featuring “celebrity models” (no idea who they are yet, but it will be interesting to see who they come up with) in a glass marque on the roof of the Aston Martin shop in the V&A Waterfront.

On Saturday the 20th March more than 2000 costumed performers will head down Long Street for the Carnival Parade. The festivities start of at 6pm with a concert at Greenmarket Square.

They reckon is gonna be the Cape Town version of the Rio Carnival so they better not be playing coz this is what i’m expecting then:

Now that looks like some good times.
