Ok, its not the usual stuff i pump out, but its relevant since its just up the road from where i live and several people i’ve spoken to seem to have different opinions on the matter.
Apparently the area below Victoria Road, between Bantry Bay and Clifton is earmarked for a proposal to build a boardwalk that has several levels going down toward the ocean.
The area has come into the spotlight because vagrants use the caves and rocks as shelter. Law enforcement officers have on previous occasions discovered stolen goods and residents in the area frequently complain of harrasment and littering.
I walked past the other day and took some pics making sure to catch the failed attempt to close off the entry points with barbed wire and evidence of continued occupation.
Bottom right, definately not a tourist.
The proposed boardwalk comes from ward councillor JP Smith who reckons it would provide a great lookout area as well as a way to police the area effectively thereby ridding the area of crime.
My question is..do we really want steps going down there with a boardwalk?
What do you think?
