Cape Town’s, Chris Bertish wins Mavericks big wave contest.
Posted by on Feb 14th, 2010

Cape Town’s very own, Chris Bertish has won the big wave 2010 Mavericks Surf Contest®  held in Half Moon Bay, California.

Ahoy bru. Who’s your daddy.

Surfers who took part reckon it was some of the biggest waves they have ever seen in a competition while several spectators suffered serious injures when massive waves knocked dozens off a seawall. Check it.

Excuse me while i walk around the room until my balls stop tingling.

Bertish bagged $50 000 for his effort and  had the following props to hand out:

“2008 Champion Greg Long summed up the day perfectly while passing along the Jim Beam Champion’s jersey to Bertish. “The entire book of big wave surfing was rewritten today.” Bertish, a native of Cape Town, South Africa was overcome with emotion, adding, “It was an honor just to be here today and paddle out with these other guys. I flew 36 hours to be here, and this has been a dream come true.” [maverickssurf]

A native of Cape Town“.  Like beautiful angel music to my ears.
