A couple of people i know are attending the official opening of the Haas Design Collective on the 12th and i must say i had no idea what the hell they were on about.
Then again, its no secret that i’m not the most cultured chap on the block, but im getting there.
Especially when things like this are happening in Cape Town to help me along the way.
Yes yes..a showcase of contemporary art & design.
I want that bunny.
Here’s what its all about:
“In a world that strives for perfection, Haas (in Afrikaans, a word for “rabbit” or “haste”) would like to invite you to join our world. A place of wonder, one in which we embrace imperfection as something that adds charm, exclusivity and individuality to everyday objects. A place where art not merely imitates life, but instead challenges you to see the world from a different perspective. In the Haas Wonderland, the artist is not a well-known Van Gogh, but could be the guy standing behind you in a queue at the corner shop or someone you’ve just passed by on the sidewalk. The artwork is not another ‘oil-on-canvas’, but could be the very wrapping of a product, an off-beat event or a unique webpage.” [Facebook]
If you’re one of those arty, designer types then this is a must. If you’re like me then just pretend and look sophisticated.
Its Cape Town. Spread the love.
