The Church of Scientology has been convicted of “fraud in an organised gang” by a French court.
“A three-judge panel at the Correctional Court in Paris convicted the church and six of its members of organized fraud, but stopped short of banning the church, as prosecutors had asked.
The court also fined the members as much as 400,000 euros ($595,000) each and sentenced them to as much as two years in prison, though the sentences were suspended.” [CNN]
The case focused on the device known as a electropsychometer which Scientologists use to detect whether or not a person has been relieved from spiritual impediment of past experiences (im so saying that next time i need to make a number 2). The plaintiffs argued that, after they were scanned by the device, they were instructed to buy products like vitamins that cost thousands ( wtf kind of vitamins are those i wanna know) and pressured into paying large sums of money.
Eric Roux, Scientologist spokesman, reckons the verdict was a “modern Inquisition” which threatened religious freedom in France.
As if the Frenchies give a sh*t.
What do you think about the whole ordeal hey Tom?
“I love the black man! SHOW! ME! THE! MONEY!”
