Are we human..or are we dancer/denser???
Posted by on May 11th, 2009

At the birthday on the weekend the song by The Killers started playing and as soon as the chorus hit all the people around me started singing along..but i’d always thought it was “denser” he was saying, since “dancer”  made no sense..are most dancers not human???(maybe a couple of dogs and monkeys). But apparently the band’s official website does say that it is “dancer”.

Messing up song lyrics is such a common occurance that it even has a name…a mondegreen.Comes from an poem which ends “laid him on the green” and was misunderstood to be “lady mondegreen”.More recent mondegreens include Bob Dylan’s .. “the answer my friends is blowing in the wind”  being sung as ” the ants are my friends”..and in the song Bad Moon Rising by Creedance Clearwater Revival they sing “there’s a bad moon on the rise” is commonly sung as “there’s a bathroom on the right”.Jimi Hendrix even changed his own lyrics at concerts and sang “scuse me while i kiss this guy”  instead of the original “scuse me while i kiss the sky”.And finally an urban legend is that in the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where donald duck in a scene shouts at daffy duck, exclaiming “Doggone stubborn little…”, Donald’s quacks have frequently been misheard as “God damn stupid [*]igger”.
